The task was to investigate a culture of repair and design a communicating tool (a Transition Manual) revealing resourcefulness in that culture. The resourcefulness might be in relation to an object, urban or built environment, process, system, service or social condition. I investigated Wabi Sabi, a Japanese concept that developed in the 9th and 10th century that recognises the beauty of things in their imperfection and impermanence.
The outcome of this exploration was a teaching toolkit with the purpose of educating both teacher and student in Wabi Sabi and how it enables a different way of viewing our material world.
