As part of my visual communication degree, I had the opportunity to complete a professional practice with GOLDOC (Gold Coast 2018 Commonwealth Games Corporation) to develop the visual identity for the Gold Coast 2018 Commonwealth Games Village. It was an absolute honour to play a small part in the sport spectacular that was the Commonwealth Games.
The brief was to create a unique brand mark for the Village while maintaining consistency across the suite of sub-brands that had already been developed for the Gold Coast 2018 Commonwealth Games. The brand mark and suite of pictograms were to take inspiration from the natural beauty of the Gold Coast. The brand mark and pictograms also had to be suitable for a variety of applications from print media to signage.
